Predictions!

Guys, here is where we get to have the fun!  Let's make some predictions of what will happen in Mockingjay.  I'll go first:

Peeta will be an Avox.  As the voice of the rebellion, the Capitol will silence him.  The Capitol will use him to wait on future tributes as a symbol of their ridiculous control.

Cinna will be an Avox.  He's been an underground leader of the resistance all along, and he knows a lot of people.  What the Capitol doesn't understand is that his voice is in his art.  (Also, he just can't be dead!)

Gale will die sacrificing himself to save Peeta.  That will kill me.  But Katniss will marry her Avox love and I'll pine.

Bloodbreath Snow will be revealed to be a muttation.

Cesar Flickerman will choose black for his new hair, eye and lip colors and archery will be all the rage in the new Capitol/Districts hybrid that will be known as District Freedom.  I'll gag.

Will there be chapters from Peeta's POV?  He's in the Capitol with Enobaria and Johanna.  I hope not!

Katniss will feel used, and flee into the woods with Gale after all.  But then she'll see that they need her (but how, really?) and she'll go back and take out the muttation Snow herself.  Faces on banners and all that.

District 4 will be the first to thrive when districters can vacation.

I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL MIDNIGHT.

  1. I always wondered whether the Avox thing is permanent. In our time, it would be, of course. But with the medical technology of the Capitol, maybe it's more like "you have to serve out x number of years as an Avox, and if you remain loyal during this time, you'll get your tongue back".

Haymitch and Cinna are the mentors, so at least one, probably both, have to die.

Either Peeta or Gale SHOULD die, but I have a feeling that they won't, and one will end up with Madge.

Blood breath will be explained that Snow bites his cheek when stressed, like Katniss. (Thank you hogwartsprofessor.com for providing me with such a simple explanation that I never thought of.)

  2. I also predict a death for Haymitch. More specifically, a self-sacrifice to save Katniss. That will start the waterworks.

I predict Katniss will end up with Gale, but that Peeta will have some sort of solo leadership role.

I predict that Cinna is either already dead or else soon will be, and I will have to hate Suzanne Collins just a little.

And finally, I predict Katniss will kick a lot of ass.

    8 hours away!

  3. I think Haymitch will die (and I'll sob), but I hope that Cinna will survive. I could see him becoming an Avox.

I think that Katniss will really have to choose between Peeta and Gale--not that one of their deaths will make the choice for her. But I think her choice is going to wind up (indirectly) deciding which of the two survives. My money is on Gale. Peeta is such a better martyr.

The avoxes are surely going to play a big part in something, but I worry that Peeta would get more severe punishment than that.

Agreed that Snow is a muttation.

Effie Trinket--Capitol informant, or would she take up with the revolution? I'm going with bumbling informant.

  4. I want Katniss and Peeta to live happily ever after, but I think that Katniss will end up with neither Gale or Peeta, but that Gale will sacrifice himself for her.

Cinna has probably disappeared, but I don't think we'll get a clear answer to what happened to him.

I think that Katniss is going to have an opportunity to kill Snow, but she won't, because she doesn't want to be like him, or something.

And maybe Katniss's dad has been in district 13 all along?

  6. I also think that Cinna is no more (which makes me sad) and that a bunch of others will soon join him. I can't begin to guess who, but wouldn't it be ironic if Prim died, given that the whole reason Katniss got involved in the Games and incited a rebellion was to save Prim?

I definitely think that we'll see a stronger Prim in M-jay, along with more Madge and Gale. This will be the first book that we really see Gale and Katniss together in the present, so it might give us more reason to join Heather on team Gale (but not me...probably).

I don't think that Snow is a muttation, but I have never been so completely clueless as to what is going to happen going into the last book of a series. It's anyone's guess! Nothing could shock me, I just hope that it's beyond awesome. Or else I will cry.

  7. I predict:

    1) general awesomeness

    2) more Gale!! Because in this Jack Kelly/Davey Jacobs style relationship, he is definitely the Christian Bale character, and if we've learned nothing else from Hollywood, it's not to bet against Christian Bale. (see: Batman 1 & 2, Terminator Salvation, Claire's apparently limitless patience for bad movies, etc,) So, in conclusion, yay Gale!

3)President Snow is going to pull a Darth Vader type of scenario and will turn out to have been one of the lead rebels from District 13 all those years ago who got sucked over to the Dark Side.

    4) Madge will kick some serious ass. Also, the District 12 evacuees will have a Robin Hood and his Merry Men situation going on in the woods where they rescue people and feed them with stolen food.

5)Haymitch will bite the dust in appropriately heartfelt scene, perhaps saving Prim's life, but Cinna will resurface. After all, someone has to make Katniss' ninja costumes for the final fight and we know she can't do it.

    6) more awesomeness.
